3Kg Jars of Gobstoppers from WJ Shaws in Belfast - Traditional boiled sweets since 1877
Gobstoppers, also known as jawbreakers are a type of hard candy. The term gobstopper derives from 'gob', which is slang in Ireland for "mouth". Gobstoppers are sucked or licked, being too hard to bite.
They got their name because they dissolve very slowly and last a very long time in the mouth, which is a major factor in their enduring popularity with children who have enjoyed them from as far back as World War I.
Shaws Gobstoppers come in multiple colours and consist of a number of layers, each layer dissolving to reveal a different colour (and sometimes differently flavoured) layer, before dissolving completely.
